We lead c...I would say we've become apathetic. We lead comfortable lives compared to Iran. Had the Republicans won the last election I wasn't afraid that federal deathsquads would come knocking because I'm a registered Democrat. But even that doesn't fully explain it. We've become complacent in comparison to Europe, those people will kill en masse because of the outcome of a soccer game. Of course, we're actually a bit more stable than Europe, in the time between typing this sentence and posting this Italy will have gone through 17 governments. So yes we're comfortable and complacent. Weirdly enough, once could even view this as a sign of our national prosperity that for all our problems we still have internet connections with which to anonymously complain about this stuff.
